Lawrence D. Meyers – President

Larry Meyers is President of HIA Insurance and has been with the agency since 1975. Throughout his career, he has been involved in industry and community organizations. He is an active member of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA), the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana (IIAI) and served as President of the IIAI. He is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Calumet College of St. Joseph and a member of Hammond Rotary. In 1992, Larry was awarded the Harry P. Cooper, Jr. Public Image Award by the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana (IIAI). He is a past President of Woodmar Country Club, Hammond Education Foundation and Hammond Rotary.

Jeffrey E. Meyers – Vice President

Jeff joined HIA insurance in 2006 as a commercial lines producer. Since then Jeff has had gained experience in selling and servicing both commercial and personal lines. As of January 2012, Jeff was promoted to Vice President of HIA Insurance and continues to sell and service commercial lines as well as overseeing the personal lines department. Jeff is actively involved in the Young Agents of Indiana as well as the current president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Northwest Indiana, Inc., the local association of the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana. Jeff lives in Crown Point, Indiana and enjoys playing golf, sport shooting and is involved with a local not for profit that assists other not for profits in the area in their efforts as well as helping to identify and develop other young professionals.

Carol A. Gabrano – Client Service Agent

Carol joined HIA Insurance in 2000 as a client service agent. She came to HIA with 19 years of experience and since then has earned the designation of IACSR – Indiana Accredited Customer Service Representative. The IACSR is a national continuing education program developed by the Independent Insurance Agents of America.

Jill P. Meyers – Commercial Lines Assistant

Jill started her career in the insurance industry in the mid 1970’s.  She was a Commercial Lines and Personal Lines adjuster until the early 1980’s.  After that, she became a stay-at-home Mom for her two sons, Dave and Jeff.  Jill is married to Larry Meyers, President of HIA Insurance.  Jill enjoyed many years as the Director of Westminster Preschool, Munster, Indiana.  She retired from that position in 2010 and joined the staff at HIA Insurance in 2011.

Mary Jo A. Nalezny - Client Service Agent

Mary Jo joined HIA Insurance in 1992 as a Client Service Agent. Mary Jo came to HIA with 22 years of prior experience and at that time worked in HIA’s Personal Lines Department, a few years later she transferred to the Commercial Lines Department as a Client Service Agent. Mary Jo resides in Dyer, Indiana with her husband and two children.

Janet L. Pappas - Client Service Agent

Janet joined HIA Insurance in 1991 as a client service agent with a focus in commercial lines. She came to HIA with 6 years of experience and is a past President of the Insurance Women of the Calumet Area, The Independent Insurance Agents of the Calumet Area and the Hammond Women’s Volleyball League. Jan enjoys spending time with her family and hiking the Smoky Mountains with her husband.

Nancy Schneider - Office Manager

Nancy started working at HIA Insurance in 1979 and left in 1983 to raise her family. In May of 1996, Nancy returned to HIA Insurance as the Office Manager. Nancy is married to her husband Ken for 35 years, lives in St. John, Indiana and has two sons Erik and Tim. Nancy enjoys spending time with her family and loves being a grandmother to three granddaughters.

Robert R. Stout - Life, Health and Benefits Producer

Bob Stout joined HIA Insurance in 2003 to lead our Life, Health and Investment Department. He comes to HIA with 20 years experience and specializes in rollovers, traditional and Roth IRA’s, fixed and variable annuities, mutual funds, individual and group life and health insurance, disability insurance, voluntary benefits and long term care insurance. He is certified by the Indiana Partnership Program to provide Long Term Care Insurance. He is an active member of the Schererville Chamber of Commerce.
